Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Hungarian Society of Arterial Stiffness it is our great pleasure to cordially invite you to the 6th International Symposium on Arterial Stiffness to be held in Pécs, Hungary, 2010 April. The conference has established a tradition of discussing the novelties in the field of arterial function and we are pleased to newly provide the opportunity for this forthcoming scientific forum.
Scientific interest has focused on arterial stiffness in consequence of its cardiovascular significance, since increasing number of studies give evidence of its prognostic value. The direct markers of arterial stiffness (aortic pulse wave velocity and augmentation index) and the importance of awareness of central blood pressure are widely recognized as they provide extensive information not only on the arterial vascular system but cardiovascular prognosis. Increasing amount of evidence supports that central aortic blood pressure is highly correlated with cardiovascular outcome than peripherial blood pressure. For this reason the title of this congress is "The pivotal role of central blood pressure in cardiovascular prevention".
The aim of the symposium is to reveal the scientific novelties in this subject and update the knowledge on arterial stiffness, and also to share the experiences on observations and conclusions. According to our traditions many keynote lectures will be presented during the meeting by prominent experts from all of the world. Abstract submission is encouraged, as beside these lectures free papers can be delivered as oral or poster presentation. The authors of the best posters will be rewarded.
Your personal active engagement in the scientific meeting will be highly appreciated. We welcome abstracts for oral and poster presentations dealing with basic and clinical research related to central blood pressure and arterial function.
